Get involved

If you own land or live in Hull, East Yorkshire or North Lincolnshire, there’s a role for you within the Humber Forest. That’s the nice thing about community forests – they’re grown for and by everyone in the area.

Plant Trees on Your Land

If you’re interested in planting trees on your land, we salute you!

With the Humber region being composed of mostly high-grade arable farmland – or under pressure for development – increasing tree canopy cover is essential for alleviating flooding, improving soil quality, and reducing soil compaction.

Whether you’re a farmer, landowner, or land manager, we’d love to work with you to develop a practical and feasible project that’s appropriate for your land – and find some funding for it, if needed.

Being in receipt of advice or funding doesn’t mean you’re under any obligation to make your land accessible to the public. The Humber Forest team will only visit a site if it’s been pre-arranged.

Volunteer

Would you like to help us plant trees in your community? Hooray!

Our delivery partners (organisations that share our mission to increase tree canopy cover across the region) are often looking for volunteers on planting days, which usually take place from October until the end of March.

We encourage everyone to join in, seasoned planters and first-timers. Planting trees is a great way to connect with nature and the other people in your community, whilst enriching your local environment.

Involve your business

Supporting the Humber Forest through your business is a great way to make a positive contribution to the local community – and there are several ways to do this:

Donations
Your financial support will not only help improve the natural environment in your area, but also provide benefits for the local economy (see Why Trees? for lots more information about the benefits of trees).

Volunteers
Planting days with staff are brilliant for boosting morale, bringing a team together, and showing everyone that your company’s values are more than words on a page. It’s a great way to embed your company within the local community, too.

Tree planting
If you have land on your business premises where you’d like to plant trees or hedges, we might be able to help. Although we’re unable to fund trees that are a requirement of a planning application, we can help with general development of land.
